The team and the why behind Coil.
Coil is an outreach platform for founders doing their own cold outreach. Same data, same actions through a dashboard, an authenticated API, and a JSON CLI. This page is the short version of who builds it and why.
Founder.
Anton builds Coil. He also builds Atoll, an agent-native project tracker that treats AI agents as team members with their own assigned work, not as assistants. The two products share a worldview: every action a human can take, an agent should have equal access to, through the same authenticated surface.
That worldview is how Coil is built end to end. The dashboard and JSON CLI use the same API underneath. Agents use Coil organization API keys so supported calls remain organization-scoped. Mutating routes with audit coverage attribute the actor as human or machine; durable source, recipe, export, and webhook records provide operation-specific evidence. A comprehensive browsable audit event surface remains roadmap work.
Anton is the maintainer of this codebase and the person on the other end of the feedback widget. The biographical details beyond that, education, past employers, anything else, are not on this page because they are not load-bearing for the claims Coil makes about its product.
Why Coil exists.
The current outreach stack rewards people who can operate it. Apollo gives you contacts but does not write openers or send sequences. Clay is powerful for teams prepared to operate a configurable enrichment workflow. Hiring or outsourcing adds cost, coordination, and product-context handoffs. If you are the founder doing outreach yourself, each option still creates operating work alongside your main job.
Coil is built for that founder. The current agent surface is an authenticated, organization-scoped API plus a proprietary JSON CLI and runtime-native skills. Supported source, recipe, automation, review, and export workflows share the same service layer as the dashboard; Coil does not currently claim MCP or general chat support.
The bet under all of this is that agent-native products will eat the category before the incumbents catch up. Coil ships the surface that makes that possible for cold outreach, with the lead-data plumbing and integrations attached.
What we have not figured out yet.
We would rather list the open questions in public than wait until the answers are tidy. If any of these are deal-breakers for your team, tell us before you sign up.
- Coil is in open beta. The product is free during beta with no card required. The proprietary CLI is public on npm; runtime skills have versioned npm or ClawHub release paths.
- Deliverability is partner-shaped, not Coil-shaped.A configured SmartLead connection supports a separate direct handoff. Admin-published webhook automations record delivery results. Warming, inbox placement, and sender reputation remain with the external provider.
- Pricing post-beta is undecided. The pricing model is one of the things beta is intended to validate. We commit to 30 days of notice and a public rationale before paid pricing takes effect.
- Outside the founder wedge, we are unproven.Coil is built for founders running their own outreach. Larger sales teams with custom workflows and dedicated RevOps engineering may need more than we currently ship.

The fastest path to a human is the in-app feedback widget once you sign in. It goes straight to the maintainer (Anton), with a screenshot if you attach one.
For public conversations, open an issue on GitHub. For everything else, sign up and the feedback widget is on every page.
